Firewall Optimization & Network Audit

• Built and designed custom database tables to track firewall objects, network groups, and associated firewall rules for a comprehensive inventory and rule audit.
• Developed Python scripts to parse and validate active objects via ping, nslookup, and other checks, resulting in the decommission of stale entries and reducing rule conflicts.
• Designed and implemented database tables to track over 3,500 firewall objects and 700 rules, improving inventory and audit accuracy by 100%.

MySQL/MariaDB Database and Server Configuration

• Implemented and configured MySQL installations on six servers, setting up master-slave replication to ensure high availability while supporting the university’s shared and personal metadata storage requirements.
• Created automated backup and restore scripts to Rubrik storage, using custom POST/GET scripts to automate token fetching and purge routines.
• Migrated MySQL instances to a MariaDB HA Galera Cluster, enhancing scalability, reliability, and failover support, minimized downtime and data loss risk, achieving 99.99% uptime and ensuring seamless failover.

IT Budget Application Backend Development

• Assisted in the backend development of an internal IT budget tracking application, ensuring secure deployment and integration with PostgreSQL, Node.js, Express.js, and Angular.
• Installed and secured PostgreSQL, configuring role-based access control, enforcing TLS encryption, and enabling continuous archiving for backups to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
